About Us
Sunfield is a full service horse facility located in Southern Lancaster County, PA. Owner/trainer Susan Sisco has been at Sunfield for over 25 years. She specializes in starting young horses, from handling on the ground, showing in hand, starting under saddle and over fences, and showing. Sue has prepared and shown multiple winners in hand at such major shows as Devon, Upperville, and the International Hunter Futurity. Sue's riding career has a long list of successes in the hunter divisions, from Baby Green on up through the Regular Working Hunter Division.
Sue also enjoys coaching riders, helping them to get the most from their mount. Whether they want to be competitive at the top horse shows or just want to improve and enjoy the training process, Sue's experience, along with her riding and training abilities, can help.
Sue has worked with top hunter rider/trainer Patty Heuckeroth for many years and has ridden in multiple clinics with Olympian Anne Kursinski. Sue wants to keep improving her riding and horsemanship skills, and feels that working with Patty and Anne has had a very positive influence on her riding and coaching styles. Sue also thinks that as a coach and instructor, it is important to remember what it is like to be the student.
Sunfield is a 50 acre farm in Southern Lancaster County, PA. We are 25 miles from Lancaster, 20 miles from Kennett Square, and 15 miles from New Bolton Center.
Top horse care is our priority. We have 2 barns, each with a wash stall (hot and cold water and heat lamps), bathroom, and tack room, and a total of 22 stalls. We have 10 paddocks of varying sizes to meet your horses turn-out needs. Horses can have a small or large paddock, and turnout can be individual or small group (2-4 that are gentle with each other). We turn horses out daily according to their needs, and many paddocks have run-in sheds for protection from the elements.
We provide daily hands-on care, including grooming, blanketing as needed, handling for vet and farrier, and whatever else your horse may require. We bed on straw and provide high quality feed and hay, and supplements according to each horses needs. We worm and vaccinate on a regular schedule.
Our indoor ring is 72 x 160 and our outdoor ring is 100 x 200. Both rings have sand footing, which we maintain regularly, and a complete set of jumps. We also have access to cross country trails.
